Purple Sandpiper (Calidris maritima) 1 on Mangalsala pier, Riga (I.Denisovs). Present at the surroundings since 30.12.2013. (I.Denisovs). 1st wintering record of Purple Sandpiper for Latvia! Eurasian Rock Pipit (Anthus petrosus) at least 4 on Liepaja harbor S pier, 2 on Liepaja harbor N pier, Liepaja (J.Jansons). Can not exclude that some of the pipits are first spring migrants. On Liepaja harbor S pier 1 present since 14.12.2013. (K.Millers) and 3 on 08.02.2014. (A.Mankus, J.Jansons).

"Grey Geese" (Anser sp.) ~140 to NNW at Rude surroundings, Nica county (K.Millers). Taiga Bean Goose (Anser fabalis) 26, Tundra Bean Goose (Anser serrirostris) 136, Greater White-fronted Goose (Anser albifrons) 2, Greylag Goose (Anser anser) 27 in one flock on plowed field at Rude surroundings, Nica county (K.Millers). For the Greater White-fronted Goose earliest spring migrant record. Whooper Swan (Cygnus cygnus) 5 ad migrating N at Nica fields, Nica county (K.Millers), 1 feeding on the field at Kursisi surroundings, Saldus county (M.Viniarskis), 2 at Puikule surroundings, Aloja county (A.Meinards). Short-eared Owl (Asio flammeus) 1 at Nica fields, Nica county (K.Millers). Present since 01.01.2014. (R.Rekmanis). Eurasian Skylark (Alauda arvensis) at least 60 (total number of migrating individuals) migrating N at Nica fields, Nica county, 12 to N at Pape lake N end, Nica county, 9 migrating at Pape, Rucava county (K.Millers). All species, except Short-eared Owl, first spring migrants.
