28.02.2017. Northern Pintail (Anas acuta) 4MM and 5 FF at Kisezers lake, Riga (I.Denisovs). 2^nd earliest spring migrant record.
26.02.2017. Northern Pintail (Anas acuta) 1 F in Marupite river at Arkadijas Park, Riga (E. & V.Smislovs). Rare during winter months.
25.02.2017. Caspian Gull (Larus cachinnans) 1 at Getlini rubbish dump, Stopini county (I.Denisovs). Northern Hawk-Owl (Surnia ulula) 1 at Abava river valley, Talsi county (I.Grinerte, K.Millers). Likely the same individual as on 25.01.2017. (J. & E.Grinevicki). Lapland Longspur (Calcarius lapponicus) >2 together with Skylarks (Alauda arvensis) at Uzava river floodplain fields, Ventspils county (K.Millers, I.Grinerte). Earliest spring migrant record!

22.02.2017. Common Shelduck (Tadorna tadorna) 3 at Berzciems seaside, Engure county (V.Adamsons). Earliest spring migrants record! Velvet Scoter (Melanitta fusca) 1 at Daugava river Livani surroundings, Livani (J.Skrinda). Rare inland.
21.02.2017. Common Crane (Grus grus) 2 heading N at Brusviti surroundings, Nica county (I.Mednis). Woodcock (Scolopax rusticola) 1 flushed from roadside at Starastini surroundings, Aloja county (A.Meinards). Both species - 1^st spring migrants.
20.02.2017. Whooper Swan (Cygnus cygnus) 10 at Jaunmuiza surroundings, Skrunda county (V.Farnasts). 1^st spring migrants.
18.02.2017. Great Egret (Ardea alba) 3 at Nerina river, Pinki, Babite county. Wintering individuals. Merlin (Falco columbarius) 1M at Priedaine surroundings, Babite county. Rare during winter months. Stock Dove (Columba oenas) 1 at Annasmuiza surroundings, Babite county. Wintering individual. Lesser Redpoll (Acanthis cabaret) 1 together with 15 Common Redpolls (Acanthis flammea) at Sipolciems surroundings, Babite county. All records by E. & V.Smislovs. Skylark (Alauda arvensis) call heard from high flying bird over Atteku islet at Liepaja lake, Liepaja (D.Krigens). 1^st spring migrant.
17.02.2017. Taiga Bean Goose (Anser fabalis) at least 40 together with about 10 Tundra Bean Geese (Anser serrirostris) and 20 Greylag Geese (Anser anser) at Nica fields, Nica county. Northern Lapwing (Vanellus vanellus) 6 at Nica fields, Nica county, >12 on the field at Riga - Liepaja highway, between Liepaja and Grobina, Grobina county. Stock Dove (Columba oenas) 3 migrating N at Pape lake N part, Nica county. Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus) 1 at Nica fields, Nica county (K.Millers). For all the species - 1^st spring migrant records!!! Lapland Longspur (Calcarius lapponicus) 5 at Nica fields, Nica county. All records by K.Millers.

16.02.2017. Greylag Goose (Anser anser) 1 at Brusviti, 1 at Pape lake N part, 5 to N at Kalniski surroundings, Nica county (I.Mednis). 1^st spring migrants.
14.02.2017. Merlin (Falco columbarius) 1 to N at Gogola and Lacplesa str. intersection, Riga (E.Smislovs). Rare during winter months.
09.02.2017. Common Merganser (Mergus merganser) 7120 at Akmensrags, Pavilosta county. Large number at one place, counted in photos. Mistle Thrush (Turdus viscivorus) 1 to E at "Laikas" surroundings, Pavilosta county. Rare during winter months. Twite (Carduelis flavirostris) 7 to S at Akmensrags, Pavilosta county. All records R.Rekmanis.
07.02.2017. Wood Pigeon (Columba palumbus) 2 at Krasta str., Liepaja (R.Rekmanis). Rare during winter months.
05.02.2017. Greylag Goose (Anser anser) 1 at Mailrags, Nica county (I.Grinerte, K.Millers). Present since 28.12.2016., when 2 individuals (R.Rekmanis). Rare during winter months. European Long-tailed Tit (Aegithalos caudatus europaeus) 1 at Kusaini surroundings near Skrunda, Skrunda county (U.Piterans).

04.02.2017. Taiga Bean Goose (Anser fabalis) 3 together with 1 Taiga/Tundra Bean Goose (Anser fabalis/serrirostris) at Nica fields, Nica county (K.Millers, I.Grinerte). 1^st known Taiga Bean Goose record for Latvia during winter months. More likely first migrants! Two Taiga Bean Geese present since 27.01.2017. (K.Millers). Great Egret (Ardea alba) 1 at Kalngale fields, Carnikava county (A.Kurockins, R.Matrozis, E.Smislovs). More likely the same individual seen already on 07.12.2016. (I.Mardega). Rare during winter months.
