Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) 1 2cy at Akmensrags, Pavilosta county (R.Rekmanis). Starting from 2018 birdinglatvia.lv publishes Golden Eagle records from all over Latvia except Dundaga county. Woodcock (Scolopax rusticola) 2 flushed from ditch at Pavilosta (R.Rekmanis). Present since 17.01.2018. (R.R.Rekmanis, V.Videnieks). Short-eared Owl (Asio flammeus) 1 at Saraiki surroundings, Pavilosta county (R.Rekmanis). Presumed the same as on 13.01.2018. (M.Kilups). Redwing (Turdus iliacus) 1 locally at Pavilosta (R.Rekmanis). Present since 17.01.2018., when 2 (R.Rekmanis, V.Videnieks).

Woodcock (Scolopax rusticola) 1 flew over the rails towards Paugu str., Koknese (I.Sausa). Rare during winter months. Redwing (Turdus iliacus) 2 at Mangalsala, Riga. Present since 23.02.2018. (I.Denisovs), when together with 5 Fieldfares (Turdus pilaris). Quite rare during winter months.

White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) 1 flew in the nest at Ukri village center, Auce county (A.Germanis at al.). According to the additional information from observer - not seen before and not kept in captivity at surroundings. Present till 25.02.2018., flying from the nest to the nest, avoid from people, funky. Rare during winter months.

Stock Dove (Columba oenas) 10 at Nica fields, Nica county (I.Mednis). First spring migrants. Mistle Thrush (Turdus viscivorus) 1 at Plienciems, Engure county (K.Millers). Rare during winter months.

Common Crane (Grus grus) 1 at Svete surroundings, Jelgava county (G.Bara et al.). Present at least since 10.11.2017. (G.Bara). Rare during winter months.

Whooper Swan (Cygnus cygnus) 181 (149 + 32) at Nica fields, Nica county (K.Millers). Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) 3500 - 4000 at Liepaja harbor S pier, Liepaja (K.Millers). First spring migrants. During winter 2017/2018 at Liepaja and surroundings only single birds or small flocks (10 - 20) recorded. Water Pipit (Anthus spinoletta) 1 at Liepaja harbor S pier, Liepaja (K.Millers). Present since 06.01.2018. (K.Millers, I.Grinerte, A.Klepers).

White Wagtail (Motacilla alba) 1 at Kalnciema str., Riga (I.Ozola). Rare during winter months, most likely wintering individual.

Anser Goose (Anser sp.) >2000 at Nica fields, Nica county (K.Millers). In variable numbers at least since 22.12.2017. (K.Millers, I.Grinerte). More at section "Local wintering birds 2017/2018". Greylag Goose (Anser anser) 11 together with 23 Whooper Swans (Cygnus cygnus) at Nica fields, Nica county (K.Millers). Can not exclude that the same individuals reported earlier from Pape lake surroundings on 05.02.2018., when 24 and on 31.01.2018., when 12 (I.Mednis). Whooper Swan (Cygnus cygnus) 78 (sum of two flocks 23 + 55) at Nica fields, Nica county (K.Millers).

Northern Pintail (Anas acuta) 1 F/2cy in Daugava river at Kengarags, Rīga (E. & V.Smislovs). Blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla) 1 M 2cy attending bird feeder at Kengarags, Riga (E. & V.Smislovs). Both species rare during winter months.

Tundra Bean Goose (Anser serrirostris) 1; Eurasian Teal (Anas crecca) 1 F/2cy at Sausa Daugava, Kekava county (E. & V.Smislovs). Common Pochard (Aythya ferina) 1 M at Darzini distributary, Salaspils county (E. & V.Smislovs). Water Rail (Rallus aquaticus) 5 at Darzini distributary, Salaspils county, 1 Sausa Daugava, Kekava county (E. & V.Smislovs). Single Water Rail at Darzini distributary since 01.01.2018. (A.Klepers). Robin (Erithacus rubecula) 1 at Darzini distributary, Salaspils county (E. & V.Smislovs). All species quite rare during winter months. Lesser Redpoll (Acanthis cabaret) 1 in the flock of ~40 Common Redpolls (Acanthis flammea) at Darzini, Riga (E. & V.Smislovs).

(Great) Bittern (Botaurus stellaris) 1 satellite tagged individual arrived at Pape lake, Rucava county (http://birdmap.5dvision.ee). Repeated earliest spring migrant record!
