27.01.2019. Eurasian Teal (Anas crecca) 24 (10 MM & 14 FF/2cy) at Sarkandaugava distributary, Riga (I.Denisovs). Since 09.01.2019. when 6 MM & 12 FF/2cy (I.Denisovs). Rare during winter months.
26.01.2019. Eurasian Wigeon (Anas penelope) 1 M with 80 Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) at Suste river Ezere village, Saldus county (M.Jaunzemis). Great Egret (Ardea alba) 2 at Pavasari water reservoir, Marupe county (I.Orlova). Both species rare during winter months. Collared Dove (Streptopelia decaocto) 45 at Parupe str., Bauska (E.Laucis). Large number at one place during winter months.
25.01.2019. White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) 1 flew over at Parlielupe next to Ice Hall, Jelgava (J.Lublinskis). Hen Harrier (Circus cyaneus) 3 (2 ad MM & 1 F/2cy) at Nica fields, Nica county (K.Millers). Present at least since 18.11.2018. when 1 ad M & 2 1cy/F (K.Millers. I.Grinerte). Both species rare during winter months. Pine Bunting (Emberiza leucocephalos) 1 M with Yellowhammers (Emberiza citrinella) at Nica fields, Nica county (K.Millers). 2^nd for Latvia!



24.01.2019. Eurasian Woodcock (Scolopax rusticola) 1 flushed out of the Grivinupite river Gauja NP, Priekuli county (A.Klepers). Present since 06.01.2019. (A.Klepers).
21.01.2019. Barnacle Goose (Branta leucopsis) 18 at shore line next to Ventspils harbor S pier, Ventspils (V.Smislovs). Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) 1 at Venta river next to the bridge, Ventspils (V.Smislovs). Little Grebe (Tachybaptus ruficollis) 3 at Roja herbor next to the bridge, Roja (I.Mardega). Great Egret (Ardea alba) 1 at Gauja river mouth, 1 at Carnikava next to Gauja river, 1 at Laveri surroundings, Carnikava county (I.Denisovs). Great Egret at Carnikava present also on 22.01.2019. (I.Denisovs). All species rare during winter months. Black-legged Kittiwake (Rissa tridactyla) 1 2cy in the sea at the Ventspils harbor S pier surroundings, Ventspils (V.Smislovs). Glaucous Gull (Larus hyperboreus) 1 2cy at Roja harbor, Roja, 1 2cy at Mersrags harbor, Mersrags (I.Mardega). European Robin (Erithacus rubecula) 1 at Siksni, Rucava county (A.Ozolins). 19.01.2019. Steller's Eider (Polysticta stelleri) 1 F at Mangalsala pier, Riga (I.Denisovs). Present since 09.01.2019. (I.Denisovs). European Robin (Erithacus rubecula) 1 at Sala bog forests, Rezekne county (I.Sausa, E.Kantans). Rare during winter months. Arctic Redpoll (Acanthis hornemanni) at least 1; Twite (Carduelis flavirostris) 1; Linnet (Carduelis cannabina) ~20 in the flock of ca 500 passerines Passeriformes at Liepna surroundings, Aluksne county (S. Laime).

14.01.2019. Great Egret (Ardea alba) 1 at Jugla canal next to Kanala str., Riga (I.Mardega), 1 at Lielupe river side reeds, Jurmala (M.Tirums). Egret at Jugla canal present since 09.01.2019. (I.Mardega). Merlin (Falco columbarius) 1 ad M at Adazi militāry landfill, Adazi county (I.Mardega). Both species rare during winter months.
13.01.2019. Greater White-fronted Goose (Anser albifrons) 1 at Sunupe, Daugavpils (G.Grandans). Mute Swan (Cygnus olor) >7200 at Liepaja lake, Liepaja (K.Millers, A.Klepers). Largest wintering Mute Swan number! Gadwall (Anas strepera) 4 next to Atteku islet in Liepaja lake, Liepaja (M.Tirums et al.). Present since 06.01.2019., when 5 (V. & M.Jaunzems). Eurasian Wigeon (Anas penelope) 1 F at Venta river, Ranki, Skrunda county (V.Jaunzemis, M.Jaunzemis), 1 M at Ciecere river, Saldus, Saldus county (V.Jaunzemis). Present since december. Most likely the same birds (4 ad + 4 2cy) observed at Birzi area, Jekabpils county (I.Sausa). Rare during winter months in E Latvia. Eurasian Wigeon (Anas penelope) 1 M at L.B.T. grain terminal in Liepaja harbor, Liepaja (K.Millers). Rare during winter months.
